I’m very new to Plex and am just using it on a mac that I am using as a media server.
I found some shows on Plex TV that I would like to download so that my wife can watch them in her off hours.
How do I do that ?
Do I need Plex Pass?
Once I download them, can I save them? or do they only last as long as I have a plex pass?

You can only download media from an own or shared library. The server owner will need to grant you permission to download media from their server/libraries. — downloads don’t work for media from Plex‘ video on demand / other online media sources.
… and yes, you’ll need a Plex Pass subscription to use this feature.
You cannot download any of the media which is available on plex.tv. It is not licensed for that and it always comes with advertising.
