Hello. I just enrolled to Plex Pass for a free 30 day trial, but I can’t download content from the Plex app to my PC so I can watch them through my Plex server. Please assist & thanks.
On what app are you trying to download media?
Also… what media are you trying to download – some media from your own server, a shared library or from Plex’ video-on-demand service?
You should be able to download media from your own server using one of the mobile Plex apps (Plex for Android / iOS) and the desktop app (Plex for Mac/Windows/Linux). The same goes for shared libraries IF the server owner has granted you permission to download their media for offline playback. You cannot download media from any of the online media sources offered by Plex (IIRC this is due to licensing restrictions).
If you’ve just signed up for a Plex Pass membership and the download option isn’t showing, it might be worth trying to force-quit your apps and restart them (or to sign out and back in).

Through the Windows Plex app on my PC desktop & with the Plex server,I am trying to download some of the movies availables for instant streaming on the “Movies & Shows” section,but not the ones from “Other Movies” section,which I already downloaded elsewhere.So does it mean even with the Plex Pass,no one can download none of the media from “Movies & Shows”,due to some restrictions?.I was hoping to transfer them through the server to watch them offline with a PS3(an old game console,for which the server still works fine bit not the app).Thanks.
Nope, you can only download your own content to watch while you’re off the grid. The content from “Movies & Shows on Plex” cannot be downloaded.
Check Best Buy and Walmart.
They have a cheapo Firestick on sale for about 15 bucks that would probably work fine for that type of streaming
Ok.Nice to know.Because I also use the PlayOn server from a PC to allow the most popular streaming apps(ex:netflix,amazon prime,etc)to work on an old console that no longer supports them natively.(like a Wii U).Plex doesn’t seem to be able to do that unfortunately.I ll check Firestick to see how it work then.
Oh I see.So it’s not possible to download from “Movies & Shows”. Thanks for clarifying.
