If I am in preparation and / or downloading to my iPad. And even if all is finished. Whether I’m a Remote streams allowed per user: 2 or 20 and I’m streaming live. I receive a “too many stream active” warning.
The only way I have found. Restart Plex or Remote streams allowed per user: Unlimited.
It would be nice to fix the problem and maybe add an option: Disregard Downloads streams.
Having the same issue with one of my managed users. I have streams limited to 4 streams per remote user. They tried downloading 2 items from the library, then started getting the error “Too Many Streams”. I temporarily set the max streams to Unlimited and the error went away, only to get the error again when setting back to 4. I added their IP address to the list of “Local” IP addresses, which made it think it was part of the local network, which temporarily bypassed the issue when using any devices at that IP address. When their device was off of the local network, however, “Too many streams” again. On a side note, they also pay for PlexPass, but it’s my server settings limiting their max streams. I created a new dummy account for them to test functionality and did not receive the error from the new account.
Definitely something to do with downloads counting against max streams, even when not being watched.
Confirming that restarting the instance of the server resolved the issue across all devices. When the user downloaded one of the media files, it broke the concurrent streams count, forcing a restart of the server again.
I am having this issue as well. Only recourse seems to be restarting the server. I haven’t tried if I can still download new content as I’m usually remote from the server when this happens.
I am also having the same issue. Mine is with Windows 10. The only fix I have found is when the person who runs the media server restarts it. While I appreciate them doing this, I don’t want to bother them daily to restart their server when others are streaming.
I’m having this same issue but none of the suggestions I see have worked.
I have streams per user set to unlimited, I have restarted the Plex server, even recreated the users account, but he still gets “You have too many active streams” when watching OR downloading to his device. Anything else to try?
I’m having this issue as a user on a friends server. I can’t stream anything on this iPad (no matter what account I log in as), but also downloads fail. Essentially, I’ve bought lifetime Plex pass… but nothing will play because it says I have too many streams
