Hello,
I’m a PMS user on a synology NAS and for years i had to delete a file that is located in “/var/packages/Plex Media Server/target/lib/dri” (the file being iHD_drv_video.so ) after every update in order to get pms working properly (if the file is not deleted i have many transcoding issues, as can been seen here : Playback on all Devices Result in horizontal distorted video - audio, subtitles, are fine - #2 by ChuckPa ).
My problem is that this directory has gone missing for a few months now, making many files unable to be played…
Does anyone knows the new path to the file ? (pinging @ChuckPa since it was the one that provided the solution and the path years ago)
Thank you for reading !
PMS version?
Synology model?
DSM 6 or 7?
Are you still experiencing the problem with distorted videos?
Plex has recently updated the Intel video drivers included with Plex Media Server. Hopefully that bug was fixed long ago, or at least with the recent updates.
If I may add here and maybe save some time?
PMS changed in the past few versions.
The Preferences.xml setting of VaapiDriver="i965" is no longer used and should be removed (with PMS stopped)
PMS 1.32.5.7349-6000
Synology DS918+
DSM DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 5
I don’t know for sure about the distorted ones because i forgot which files were doing that bug but i have a file that have an audio sync problem when the file is not deleted (the audio start 5 secs too early) that i’ve been using to test the issue after every PMS update and it’s doing it right now (which is why i wanted to delete the file, but i couldnt find it).
I would love to save time indeed ![]()
Could you tell me where the “preferences.xml” file is supposed to be so i can delete the line "VaapiDriver=“i965"” ?
Thank you both for the fast answer i appreciate it !
.
In DSM 6, if you added it, it’s in
/Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Preferences.xml
If you didn’t add it yourself then it’s not in there by default.
You can safely use the Synology text editor app (with Plex stopped) to look at the file.
The file was indeed here but did not contain the line about Vaapi.
So i guess my issue was not related to the driver after all, weird.
If only i could remember what specific file did the distortion i could have checked that this issue was gone…
Thanks for the help anyway !
Can you please make certain Server DEBUG logging is enabled (VERBOSE OFF) – SAVE if you make changes…
Then recreate the problem you’re seeing.
After you see it,
Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs
And attach the ZIP file it gives you.
We’ll look through it
