Hi I’m running Plex using DS716+II. I use Mac book pro 2015 (Mojave) with PMS and PMP. Sony Bravia TV with Plex. Fast fibre optic internet. Many films recently have begun taking very long times to load and play sometimes a minute sometimes a 1, 2 even 3 minutes, some even take forever and don’t load. Lots of time watching a spinning yellow wheel. The problem happens on both PMS and PMS. It also appears on the Bravia Plex app. It did not used to. I noticed it varies a lot from film to film some are very fast. My Mac is all direct play. If I open the movies from the NAS in VLC they play instantly and skipping movies it instant rather than another 30 second spinning wheel in Plex.
- I tried the following:
- Manually updating the Plex app on the NAS. (chose intel 64-bit which I’m hoping was correct)
- Cleaning bundles, empty trash, Optimise database.
- tried using chrome instead of safari (even worse)
- Repair database (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201100678-Repair-a-
Corrupt-Database). - this seemed a bit dodgy with some of the terminal commands seeing not to do anything and ended up me deleting com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-shm which doesn’t seem to have replaced itself…
All the above seems to have helped a tiny bit on the Mac but made the Bravia worse. My Plex setup should be lightning fast as it used to be…
any ideas would be great…
