DS918+ for plex

Hi

To get rid of my power hunger noisy monster of a HP DL380 I’m thinking of buying a Synology DS918+ to replace running my Plex media server.
But I’m a little worried about performance, will Plex on this box be able to transcode 2x 8-12GB 1080p video files with external subtitles simultaneously.? (As I’m a lifetime memeber, I can enable hardware acceleration)
I might have the answer here: Plex server on DS918+ - perfect hardware transcode of 4K 10bit HDR with low cpu usage but I’m a bit unsure with the subtitles added.

Would there be any other better suited NAS in the same price range to suggest?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, with hardwaretranscoding Srt and TX3G yes (doesnt need to be burned in) if the client supports it. Pgs and VobSub not with hardwaretranscoding. With software maybe one.

best regards.
