I have a brand new DS918+… I just downloaded the latest “update 2” version of Plex and installed it. After installation, it doesn’t seem to run any sort of setup wizard… It just asks me for my Plex ID and after signing in, the interface just spins looking for media servers…
Before the DS918+, I had a dedicated Windows server running a Plex Media Server… I’ve since shutdown that machine in favor of getting Plex running on the DS918 but so far I’m not having any luck at all.

PMS cannot be Claimed by a ‘non local’ IP address.
Are both the computer and Syno on the same subnet? If not, SSH tunnel will be needed to tunnel the browser’s traffic to the ‘remote network’
Bruder.com oddly enough is a public domain. Completely unrelated to my private home network. I wonder if plex or my nas is somehow not using my internal DNS to resolve nas.bruder.com?
Somewhere in the chain from computer -> NAS, you’re stepping outside the LAN.
To setup the NAS, the http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web is the best.
If it’s already too late for that, we’ll reset the network security in PMS so you can start again.
The most important thing to remember is your LAN must be RFC1918 (Private Network) addressing compliant else it will always consider devices to be WAN and subject to additional security rules.
EDIT: Another thought. What is the hostname? eg… syno.bruder.com and does the local DNS resolve to LAN or WAN IP?
Here’s what I found… So I opened DNS Manager and found the initial DHCP assigned IP address of the DS918+ as well as the static IP address. There were two IP’s registered for my NAS…
I updated DNS (by deleting the DHCP assigned one) and bingo, now it’s working like a champ! Just ran through the setup.
