Soft Reset PMS (Synology)

Perform a Soft Reset of PMS

  1. Stop PMS
  2. In FileStation, Navigate Plex / Library / Application Support / Plex Media Server
  3. Rename Preferences.xml to Preferences.xml.old
  4. Start PMS
  5. Open In-Cognito browser window
  6. Open http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web in that window
  7. Be greeted by Sign-in, Welcome, and ‘Got It’ screens
  8. The Wizard will start setting up a new PMS. This is normal & expected
  9. Do Not create new library sections. Skip this part
  10. Continue through the setup normally
  11. Finish to arrive at the dashboard
  12. Your library sections will be there waiting for you.

Recheck your Settings as some will have changed.

but my nas only have one static ip in LAN and I am access it from a internal ip computer. they have same subnet 255.255.128.0
nas mask :192.118.5.2
computer ip:192.118.5.3

Thank you for sharing your LAN and Computer IP addresses.

That is the problem.

192.118.x.x is not an RFC-1918 compliant “Private Network”

you need 192.168.x.x to be compliant.

This will be a bit of a pain but better in the long run for you because your networking for other things will work better too.

Your choices are defined here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

thanks ChuckPA! it works now.
