I have been unable to play movies on PC or through XBox One X in my home network. The movie either stays buffering, or may play a moment of audio with pixilated video before buffering. No devices are using wifi
The J4xxx CPU (which the DS920 has) has a known failure thanks to a failed Intel driver problem.

Is there another work around for MP4 files? They give me the same buffering issues
Do they contain subtitles?
If so, PGS, VOBSUB, and DVDRIP subtitles are image based. These must be burned into the image. They cannot be overlayed like SRT, ASS, or SSA. The processors which Synology uses, other than the Xeon CPUs, cannot keep up with the demands in most cases.
