DSM 7.3.2 Update 3 broke Plex

Server Version#:1.43.0.10492-720010492
Player Version#:1.112.0 (Mac app)
Since the DSM update, my remote Plex apps haven’t been working. I can connect via the DSM app though.

Is anyone else having the same issue and found a solution?

Thank you in advance!

no issue for me with Plex Server : Version 1.43.1.10540

thank you for your reply. I just installed the beta version 1.43.1.10540, but I’m still having the same issue :frowning:

Here’s another problem: after the update Plex no longer detects new album additions in Synology, that is, the scanner does not start automatically to detect only the new additions, I hope it can be fixed as soon as possible thanks!

What do you mean by „remote apps“ and those not working?

That sounds more like an issue with the number of monitored directories on your system.

Before the update, I didn’t have a modified Inotify, but Windows (where the server is) just worked with Synology. Anyway, I’m trying to increase Inotify, so we’ll see.

If your server is running on Windows, using the Syno only as storage, there might be some glitch/hiccup with SMB.

Okay, thanks, but no, there aren’t any problems. Windows works this way, unlike Linux, and I have a very large library. So I modified Inotify as suggested above, and the scan started working again. It’s possible that I had already modified Inotify a few months ago, even deleting the executable in Synology. So, my question: do I have to modify Inotify every time Synology updates? Or is there a way to make the modification permanent? Thanks.

I would guess a DSM upgrade shouldn’t modify the configuration… at least not by default.

I mean everything works on a local network, but my plex applications can no longer connect remotely. Everything was working fine before this update  . Would anyone have the solution? Thank you very much in advance!

Did you already have a look at the related troubleshooting support article?

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/

There’s also a guide with some more details on how to troubleshoot remote access issues.

Thank you. But yes, unfortunately, I’ve already seen those articles, and I didn’t find a solution that works for me…

TL;DR: Keep the scheduled task from FAQ 16, and run it after any DSM update.

Details:
Inotify is a Linux setting. DSM is Synology’s custom version of Linux for their NAS.

It is possible that any DSM update will change inotify back to the default setting.

Updating my DS918+ from 7.2.2 to 7.2.3 removed the custom inotify setting from both /etc.defaults/synoinfo.conf and /etc/synoinfo.conf. The update probably installed updated versions of both files, wiping out any customization.

Updating from DSM 7.3.2 Update 1 to Update 3 removed the setting from /etc/synoinfo.conf, necessitating running FAQ 16 again.

@BenjamindeParis

I’ve a DS918+, DSM 7.3.2-86009 Update 3 with PMS v.1.43.0.10492.

Remote access works from my Pixel 6a phone over the mobile network.

Are you using manual port forwarding or UPnP?

Settings → Remote Access displays “Fully available outside your network”, correct?

Can you access your server via https://app.plex.tv/desktop/?

On a remote system, try connecting to the public IP and port of your server. See if you can login, see libraries, etc. For example, if the IP & port are 1.2.3.4 and 32400, use http://1.2.3.4:32400/web. You can use a phone on the mobile network. The goal is to try an pull a login screen from your server. You do not need to stream anything.

Thank you for your help!

I do have access to the server locally via the site https://app.plex.tv/desktop/.

For remote access, I cannot access the server using the address with my IP.

I am indeed using UPnP.

I tried to set up port forwarding on my router (Freebox), but it does not accept forwarding below 49152.

You can pick a random public port (e.g. between 49152 and 50000)… only the internal port must point to 32400.

Thank you very much for your reply, but with the update of the beta version of the Plex server, the issue seems to have been resolved. Thanks again!

Same thing is happening to me. Plex is not detecting newly uploaded MKV files.
