Player Version#: The server folders are the issue

Like the title says. After installing Plex Media Server 1.24.2.4973-2b1b51db9 for Synology DSM 7, I now have 2 Plex folders. Both folders say they have a different amount of files.

New Plex media folder property date says 1.59 TB. Modified 08/31/2021 06:11:12 which would be the approximate time I installed version 1.24.2.4973-2b1b51db9.

Original Plex media folder properties says 1.96 TB. Modified 02/25/2021 06:12:26

I don’t recall the new Plex install asking if I would like to create a new folder. If memory serves, it was just another upgrade to the latest version that I’ve done many times, but now I have an entirely new “Plex Media Server” folder on my NAS. I am hesitant to delete the newly created folder.

Careful please.

  1. You should have Plex – leftover from DSM 6 which, if you check the forum documentation, tells you it’s free for you to use or delete as you wish.

  2. You should have, after installing 1.24.2 and above, PlexMediaServer which is the “DSM 7 successor” to the old “DSM 6 Plex” share. (this is the best I could do).
