DSM 7 files not available

@evan.marcus

If you have a “Plex/Movies” and “Plex/TV Shows”, everything at the top level,
then your media can stay right there.

In DSM 6 – which is where those warnings came from – Media in the Plex share was very dangerous because folks would make mistakes selecting which folders to add to their library sections. That’s why I placed those warnings and made that general rule. Media can be anywhere on the NAS – it didn’t need to be there and shouldn’t have been.
There is ONE place your media cannot be – That’s in the “Plex Media Server” sub-folder. If it’s in there, you’ll lose it.

In DSM 7, we leave the Plex share and take “Plex Media Server” to its new home.

That means you are free to use the Plex share as you see fit.

The initial DSM 7 package stored the metadata internally to DSM.
I figured out how to bring that data back out so we can make backups of it.

You can see that now as of PMS 1.24.4973 - and above (can’t go back to lower versions after this because of the structure change).
