I presume you found my “right way” to upgrade from DSM 6 → DSM 7?
When you clicked the “Repair” option, that created a rogue PMS which was independent of your DSM 6 installation.
We need to remove it
To remove it -
-
Verify your metadata still exists in the “Plex” shared. (Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server)
-
Uninstall the current package, Select the “ERASE” option to remove the rogue BETA package’s data
-
After it is removed, Now install again.
-
It will do one of the following
-
Give you errors and warnings about granting Full Control to the Plex share
-
Go through the menu pages and then sit at “Installing” for an extended period (this is what we want to see happen
-
It will install quickly and you still won’t have a server to access
- If you get errors - follow the instructions or
- If it sits there for an extended period, look in the “Plex” shared folder.
- A file will be created “Migration.log”
- The file will chronicle the tasks being performed to upgrade your media from DSM 6 → DSM 7
- when it shows it has “Completed: Cleaing: /volume/Plex” – then it is done.
- If you see no such file in the Plex share, AND, the “Plex” shared folder still contains your data, Please let me know.
