DSM 7 Plex Server not starting

@jeskoflemming_yahoo_de

I presume you found my “right way” to upgrade from DSM 6 → DSM 7?

When you clicked the “Repair” option, that created a rogue PMS which was independent of your DSM 6 installation.

We need to remove it

To remove it -

  1. Verify your metadata still exists in the “Plex” shared. (Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server)

  2. Uninstall the current package, Select the “ERASE” option to remove the rogue BETA package’s data

  3. After it is removed, Now install again.

  4. It will do one of the following

  • Give you errors and warnings about granting Full Control to the Plex share

  • Go through the menu pages and then sit at “Installing” for an extended period (this is what we want to see happen

  • It will install quickly and you still won’t have a server to access

  1. If you get errors - follow the instructions or
  1. If it sits there for an extended period, look in the “Plex” shared folder.
  • A file will be created “Migration.log”
  • The file will chronicle the tasks being performed to upgrade your media from DSM 6 → DSM 7
  • when it shows it has “Completed: Cleaing: /volume/Plex” – then it is done.
  1. If you see no such file in the Plex share, AND, the “Plex” shared folder still contains your data, Please let me know.
