DSM7 unable to create a server

Hi there,

I’ve been trying to get this working all day yesterday and tried everything from what I could find to fix the problem but I wasn’t able to fix it.

Synology DSM7 version: DSM 7.0.1-42218 Update 4
Plex version: PlexMediaServer-1.26.2.5797-5bd057d2b-x86_64_DSM7

1 - Manually installed the package through the package center
2 - Normal installation
3 - Set the permissions to full control on my shared media folders for the user PlexMediaServer
4 - Then when I try to open plex media server on http://[LOCAL IP]:32400/web/ I get the message: Not authorized. You don’t have access to this server

Alright lets reinstall it…

1 - Remove: Delete the plex media server from this system ( not recoverable )
2 - Manually installed the package through the package center
3 - Install with help of the Plex Claim Token
4 - Paste the claimed token in the field; Clicked next
5 - Succesfully Claimed the server to: [My username]

Then when I try to open plex media server on http://[LOCAL IP]:32400/web/
Other troubleshooting I did:

Clear cache/history from the browser
Tried Different browsers
Disabled Firewall on the nas / and my windows machine
Port forwarding in my router ( running merlin on ax86u )
Nas Reboot after the installs
Tried running plex media server on Windows PC and it’s working fine

Help would be much appreciated.

Are you and the NAS on the same RFC-1918 compliant subnet?

The screenshot you show is NOT an RFC-1918 LAN address .
That’s a WAN address.

inetnum: 1.3.0.0 - 1.3.255.255
netname: CHINANET-GD
descr: CHINANET Guangdong province network
descr: Data Communication Division
descr: China Telecom
country: CN

RFC-1918 is also known as “Private Network”

Thanks! That was the problem.
I just used an random DHCP pool and never thought it would matter.
Well I changed it accordingly and now everything is working fine. Thanks.
