DTS 5.1 fails to play many Android devices

Server Version#:1.18.4.2171
Player Version#:6.13 through 7.28.0.15265-beta

For two years, DTS 5.1 has refused to play on many popular Android devices, including but not limited to the Amazon Fire Stick. The transcode process fails and the media is completely unplayable, resulting in either the “Playback has stopped because…” error when using 6.13-7.27 clients, or the “An error occurred while attempting to play this video" error when using the 7.28 beta clients.

These files work fine when using v6.12 of the client.

I’ve provided my logs in numerous other threads.

This is a severe problem, and it deserves a thread of its own. The communication from the Plex team about this has been horrendous. I’ve noticed numerous complaints about the issue here and other places today alone, and it’s only going to get worse as light continues to shine on the issue.

Where have you provided logs about the transcode process failing. The only thing I’ve seen from you is about the optical passthrough settings, which I am looking at. You were not playing DTS audio in those logs.

You are right. I’ll provide my DTS logs when I get the time. However, the problem above also affects other popular file formats, which are in the logs I’ve already posted. Is any progress being made? Some of us have been experiencing this problem for two years, and we haven’t heard much from the staff.
