DTS on LG (older) smarttv

Bought the NVIDIA Shield TV dongle to run the Plex app and use the audio passthrough when connected to the mediaplayer hdmi input on my marantz reciever.

Player Version#:3.13.28

WebOS Version# 1.4.0.2532 (afro-ashley)

I am aware of issues with the newer LG SmartTV’s and passing through DTS audio signal. But I own an older LG smarttv and am running the PLEX app on the tv. In some strange way the TV will not passthrough DTS audio stream whilst when I play the same moviefile with the LG Smartshare DLNA function it DOES passtrough the DTS signal…
Howcome and how do I play DTS (and TrueHD/ HD-MA) with the plex app on my LG tv?
