OK. I tried to configure it to use NFS under the setup->emplexer menu. I used the IP of the synology and the 32400 port. But when I click on the movie poster, nothing happens. It won't play now.
Is there any other critical setting? For playback type, do I chose Dune Playback or Vod Playback? Also, it doesn't seem like the save button at the bottom of the emplexer setup screen is working because there is no indication that it saved the settings.
You shouldn’t use port 32400 in the path to the files/sections on your nas. 32400 is just for the Plex interface.
Ex. nfs://192.168.1.2:/videos/movies. If you have user and pass configured you have to add them in the path.
Save works but as you noticed nothing happens when you push it.

We are talking about the emplexer setup on the Dune, right? It is asking for the Plex IP and Plex Port followed by the connection type. For connection type, I selected NFS. But I'm confused what I should enter for Plex IP and Plex Port. Are you saying I should enter the IP address and port of the NAS? But for IP use your example with IP:/volume1/movies...
You have Plex IP and port setup right since you can connect to your Plex Server.
When you slect NFS as Connectio Type you have to configure the path to each section.
Defult they will look something like this but you have to edit them so that they point to your NAS and share.

Same Problem here; i tried everything to get playing via nfs. Nothing solve the Problem, i think it`s an issue of the newer Dune Models (3D). I can only streaming via http, but with native Dune Player. On Deck and Resume does not work either, maybe a problem of newer models too?!

install Build Date 14 April, its the most stable, out of all the emplexer releases.
I always go back to Build date 14 April if i have issues.

Music library - I can drill down into an album but there's nothing there to play. Works fine on the PC where I have the PMS. Location is similar to movies and shows so that should not be a problem.
Channels - Other than iTunes, I see icons but no names. For example HD trailers, i just see a generic icon. I drill down and I see more icons, but don't know what they are since they're not named.

It's a bit drastic, but it worked for me when I had problems trying to install emplexer a few months back
1) Delete emplexer
2) Format your USB to create a new system storage
3) Full Factory reset
You can now try to install the latest emplexer :)

Since my Plex server is running on my NAS, the IP addresses are the same, just a different port. So I looked at my Nfs advanced configuration, and the default setup was correct. It had the ip address of the NAS/Plex server followed by the mount, i.e.
172.16.12.103:/volume1/Movies

Just installed emplexer on my Dune (Base 3D). I am able to see the movie art on the Dune, but was extremely dissapointed with the streaming via Plex. The streaming from my Synology diskstation was great using NFS. So I was wondering if I can use emplexer just for the interface, but have it stream the files from the NAS to the Dune directly instead of trying to transcode them via Plex?

The emplexer don't use transcoded session, only direct play are supported.
Maybe you think the emplexer use transcoded sessions because the slow playback start with http connection type.
I don't know why but http playback on dune are very slow to start, try to use ip control to play some mkv http://dune_ip/cgi-bin/do?

Peter911 and hoops129, try to use dune ip control to test nfs playback http://dune-hd.com/firmware/ip_control/dune_ip_control_overview.txt, this is a good way to identity what's happend.

Please try the steps that mxm2 said, music library are supported in the last version and i will improve Channels area soon.

Dune playback are the default dune player, that player support all things dune supported, in the current version this player are experimental and has some bugs.
Vod Playback are the dune plugin player, has almost all the features of the default player, but some other important things are missing (like subtitle settings).
This player is more stable and recommendable for now.
Particularly what I'm doing when I watch a movie/series that has more than one subtitle or need to do some fine tuning in subtitle sync I use dune playback otherwise use vod playback.
Before starting the development of emplexer I tried to use dunex, but had not have much success.
After that I used for some time the yadis in a windows vm, worked very well, but the fact of having to start a vm and reprocess the collection every time something new appears bothered me a lot.

Stutter free pictures? Sorry i don't understand what you meant.
About files and server on same-machine, i have this same-setup and i do not have any problems.
the only problem is if you want to make a stream to a client that does not support direct play (iphone / android), my synology does not have enough cpu to transcode.
