Would it be possible to access shared content? Also is it possible to “connect to device” from a plex client on windows android etc to send to the dune?

Hello jmper I’ve tried the latest version. Im happy for the SELECT button on TV-Series, would it be possible in Movies too?
When I select TV-Series and then a series with a lot of entries (like M…der she wrote) The list of episodes is overlayed to some gray boxes, when you press UP or DOWN buttons on the remote the screen is then correctly rendered. (I use a view with Text episodes name on the left and picture with description on the right).

I’m thinking about “select” function in movies libs. Some people (and me) have many movies in DVD and BD format. I’m not sure Dune can use playlist with these. Just as idea make possible select only files formats…

Actually, in DUNE upnp I do select Movies, Recently Viewed, I select the movies I’m interested in and then I press Play. It works perfectly. If I want infinity cycle I press MENU, then select REPEAT ALL and it plays continually the playlist I’ve created.
I don’t know if this can help you in figuring out the way of working. I hope so; I can’t write a good english.

Hello, first of all you need install Plex server but not on Dune. You need NAS, PC or any other computer.

I am new to Plex. I have Pexpass installed as docker on an unraid server. I installed dpc on a Dune Smart B1.
I was hoping to transcode h265 HEVC videos through Plex and play them on the Dune. I keep getting unsupported file so my guess is that transcoding is not working. Is trancoding possible with this server/client setup? I can play h264 files cause they don’t need to be transcoded? The unraid server is a 12 core dual CPU config. and powerfull enough. Any hints and tips on how to setup this are welcomed.

Yadis is pretty nice I think. Why are you looking for an alternative? What do you expect from it.
The only purpose of installing Plex for me is that I am way too lazy to convert h265 to h264. But that is just me talking.

The reason I use and love PLEX for TV shows is because of the database management and offline syncing.
I watch a lot of TV shows and I watch them on my two Dune players, Apple TV 4, iMac and iPad.
Since I watch the shows on different devices and different places is really nice to have one database that keeps track of unmatched episodes and I often use the resume on another device function.
The offline syncing PLEX provides is great for my work trips, which is quite often.
I use Yadis for movies because I only watch 1:1 BR and PLEX doesn’t handle scraping BR very well.
Yadis for TV shows works fine if you only have and use one client and/or only follows a few shows.
A bit OT but that’s why I use and love PLEX. 
Transcoding doesn’t seem to be working. Trying to play a mkv file with HEVC h265 video results in a file can’t be played error. Is there something in the Plex server that needs to be setup differently?
Just in case. DPC doesn’t work with transcoding, It use PLEX just as cataloger and try play direct links from PLEX

I was kinda hoping dpc was a true client that would signal the server to do the transcoding.
There doesn’t seem to be a true plex client for dune then.
You can try emplexer. It can works with transcoding.

I completely lost the track here …
I am using the original emplexer plugin. I am quite happy with it. I tried out the version2 but this didn’t cover all features as emplexer1 did (especially ISO plackback I remember). So I skipped this - also because nerolan didn’t complete the project … to my knowledge he stopped the development since DPC arrived here.
I also tried DCP … not to much, because I struggled to setup it properly on my Dune Prime HD 3.0.
What I am missing here is the “rote Faden” … so too much information in this thread but I don’t know how to extract it. So maybe some basic questions;
A) is there a comprehensive documentation available?
B) on which devices will DCP run
C) which file protocols are supported
So why I am asking for it, despite I am quite happy with good old Emplexer. One of the drawbacks of Emplexer and (fairly enough) of Dune is the old school like interface. So I tried out a lot of thinks:
FireTV - Plex app → crap, basically because of 24p
Fire TV - Kodi app with PlexBMC → working but fragile, didn’t solve 24p of cause
Raspberry Pi2 → Rasplex: yeah 24p support and dynamic switching of frequency, but no ISO support
Raspberry Pi2 → OSCM/Kodi with PlexBMC. Quite OK, 24p is available of cause but setting up the things up to the end is endless debug/work … e.g. I don’t get running the mode which allows to export just the SMB location of file to play out of Plex … just as this plugins for dune do. So stopped this even I spend much time in it including remote control and RemotePi Power Control board.
So if I realy want to enjoy a movie I suck the missing “experience” of Emplexer but play it with good old Dune and just watch the movie.
So I am interested in DCP of cause, because it is actively developed. Also I am interested in modding the Dune interface … but I feel like there is only a Russian/French scene out there which is doing things there actively and I am not capable to read this forums. Any links for modding in english or german language?

basic answers:
a) unfortunately not yet the full description because the plug-in is developing and many functions are changing. It possible find all my posts with releases and updates. Not so comfortable but it only way now.
b) DPC will run on any dunes now. You just need “system” storage installed.
c) It supported SMB, NFS and you can use internal HDD directly.
Now DPC developed in “PHP Plug-in” technology because it allow run it on any dune platforms, but this technology has restrictions on interface modify.
