I have a Solo 4k and i don’t know how i install the dune_plugin_dpc_v1.3a.zip. Can anybody tell me what i have to do to install this and use plex on the dune solo 4k
Hello, just put plugin file into your dune and start it by press “Enter” on remote control. For watching movies also you have to setup your connections

Hey jmper, just to say your efforts are greatly appreciated!!! I’m a Plex user since some time, via my LG TV, but bought a Dune in order to have 7.1 analog output, which does not exist on almost any other streamer, in order to integrate with my old but very high quality receiver. So the ability to continue using Plex on the Dune is a great feature! Thanks!!
Any chance the source code could be shared publicly somewhere? (Or is it all PHP and directly readable?)
As a minor comment: The interface is pretty nice, but not as nice as what I know from Plex on my LG/Android/etc. I understand this is due to restrictions of the Dune GUI/plugin system, but maybe some tweaks (or tweakability, from the setup screen?) could maybe be done; e.g. I think the font in the movie info is too big and don’t like the green and yellow letters (would be cooler if they were grey shades). With TV series, the episode info takes the small thumbnail from the episode and stretches it full screen which doesn’t look nice, IMHO. I have not used Yadis or Zappiti, because they seem like a lot of work and require you to run a PC alongside to do scraping etc… But the interface does look pretty nice on some of the Yadis screenshots. Don’t know what tech is used there, but it would be great if we could have something of the sort in DPC!
Thanks again for this development and keeping Plex on Dune alive!!
The source code code inside .zip it’s just PHP code, LUA code + some binaries
Unfortunately Dune GUI has many limitations, but I hope somehow to improve how plugin looks in next version

Hello, I read through the first few pages of this blog… Its huge! I have been researching some new equipment and just started looking into plex. Very nice interface but I have some concerns. I am posting here because I hope the experienced users can shed some light.
I have a Dune Base 3.0 which has served great over the years. I normally rip a iso with anydvd, mymovies. This blog appears to create an app on Dune. What format does it use? Doesnt it still need to be a mkv file? I did a test with a bd, iso on dune and plex on xbox one s. The bd of course the best picture. Iso was very close to the same. Mkv on xbox was inferior with periodic scambling, colors off, etc.
Other than the superb gui, why would one want to use plex? Thank you for any help, i would love to be able to use plex service with the same quality as bd.
You can use any formats what your dune can play. The main point to set up your connections

Thanks jmper. At the Moment this is the only way to use Plex on the Dune 4k Solo isn’t it?

Yes, it should, also it should avoid problem with countdown WOL
Thanks! I’ll have a chance to try it tomorrow.
My connections issue is fixed! Thanks!
I didn’t test WOL yet but I will soon enough.
WOL coutdown works too now.
Strange I’m getting Error “Could not get connection for” now for my Music category? I rarely use it so I don’t know when this started.
I’ve been using Dune’s boxes for years and want to standardize the entire house on Plex (currently, Dune boxes use 10Muse and all other devices that support a native Plex client use Plex).
Following the posts in this thread, I easily installed DPC on a Dune 3D with no issues (@weyb - good guide) and have the application auto-starting at Dune boot.
Question: Is there any way that when DPC launches, it can start at a particular view, ideally at All Movies (so the screen consisting of movie icons is what is shown)? Currently, when the Dune start up, the initial DPC screen showing just the single Movies icon is displayed.
Correct, I only have a Movies library. But it’s actually two screens I’m interested in passing
Current Navigational Flow:
Dune boots
The “Movies” icon is displayed.
Use remote to select the icon
A screen that has the list a series of options, “All Movies”, “Recently Added”, etc. is displayed.
Select the “All Movies” option
The screen that displays all movies by icons is displayed.
It’s that last page I’d like to automatically navigate to at boot.
Maybe a feature that allows the user to hit something on the remote that work mark the current screen to be automatically navigated to when the Plex client starts.
Unfortunately not in current version. You are only one I know who have single library. But you can avoid options screen. Go to DPC setup -> Filters -> Movies and switch off all except ‘All Movies’
Thanks for the reply. I figured the request was a little unusual - it’s more for making things easy for the kids - the less navigation they need to do, the less things that go wrong.
I’ll certainly add the Filters to remove one level of navigation.
