My tuners were missing a couple channels so I re-ran a channel scan. I then went into the settings and told Plex what channels they corresponded to. But when I try to save it says, for example, “There is a duplicate channel mapping (Channels 315, 38 are mapped to Guide channel 315)”
Channels 315 and 38 are the same channel, sort of - Golf and Golf HD. But the mappings are different. One is mapped to “038 GOLF (The Golf Channel)” and one is mapped to “315 GOLF (The Golf Channel)”. If I uncheck channel 38 the issue goes away for that channel but then pops up for another set of channels following the same scenario (e.g., a non HD and HD version of the same channel are mapped to guide channel XXX). How can I fix this without removing every single SD channel source from my lineup?
I do see a lot of duplicated channels on the Spectrum cable lineup. In fact they also show duplicate channels on their list of channels https://www.spectrum.com/browse/content/new-channel-lineup
(but for some reason Golf is showing there as 38 and 768 and not 315)
In their list the duplicate channels appear the same and not SD and HD - but both showing as identical channels
Do you have any evidence that they are SD and HD - if they are, then lineup would need to have them as separate source channels internally and so not end up with duplicate
We cannot handle a channel appearing on more than one number
These are few examples of the duplicates
Do you actually receive all the duplicates ? And can you tell if they should be SD and HD ?
For now you would need to do what you have done - disable the duplicates leaving only one
So it’s anecdotal because I haven’t checked every channel but yes, the two digit channels are usually SD and the three digit ones are HD. I just fired up the HDHomeRun app and am watching Golf SD on channel 38 right now.
The thing is, when choosing the channel information it does show a different number for SD vs HD, which one would think means that Plex realizes that they are different distinct channels. See below:
I stopped trying to fix the duplicates after around item 20 because it got tedious. There’s really no other way to fix this? I guess I can try mass un-checking the lower channels or something.
My guess is that the information our provider had for the channels did not distinguish between SD and HD for some channels - in fact the Spectrun web site does not
I will need to refer this to our provider to get the SD / HD channels separated into different titles. Some appear to have already been done eg CNBC and CNN - which show the same here
but are actually split into separate channel names in the guide data
It does not appear to follow that 2 digits is SD - because i see that this channel is showing as HD
