Duplicate Selectable Servers, Server Not Found

It is not a bandaid. The hosted web app is always the first to get new features and bug fixes. I recommend it to use as default.

The local web app should be used only for setting up the server and in the case of a internet outage.

You are free to use the web app with the Firefox browser.
You could also install Plex Media Player in ‘desktop mode’ which looks exactly like the web app, but doesn’t have the playback restrictions of a web browser.

Maybe I’m not understanding then. The running app. On the bottom right of my screen. That I use to update my media files, (scan change meta data) I’m not supposed to use that to update things. I’m supposed to go to app.plex.tv.

And the media player app is only for watching. I use openPHT cuz it runs smoother than the apps for ps4 and my TV. (Is what it is I guess). I was hoping for an app that is the Plex administrator functionality. Don’t need it to play videos. Just allow me to work with the media. That sorta thing.

That is the tray icon of the server. You are free to trigger a library update from its right-click popup menu.
However, it will update all libraries at once, which will take unnecessarily long if you have only added media to one of your libraries.
In the web app you can selectively update only one library.

Just put a bookmark into your preferred web browser (or onto the desktop – whichever you prefer).

I am not talking about the Windows app store app.

The Plex Media Player has 2 view modes now.
One of those is the ‘TV mode’ (which you probably already know and which indeed is playback-only).
The other is the ‘desktop mode’, which has all the abilities of the web app.

As the one above mentioned. Learn something new every day XD. Ty ty ty.

Alas, even the app is doing it now… gonna dig up the old plex version again, so tired of these bugs. and it really was working for a while without issue when i started using the app :frowning:

I’m noticing “Cannot contact server” issues are a lot more frequent. This blows my mind because the server has a static IP and is always on. I ran a ping to the gateway from the server and there wasn’t any latency at all ( <1ms), the drivers are up to date, none of the network shares have this issue, etc…
