Okay, then you are using the new Agent, that defaults to TMDB

When you edit your library, under Adv, there’s a setting named Use local assets
If selected, then try for a short test and unclick it, then do the Plex Dance and report back

Even so that doesn’t really matter as TVDB and TMDB use the same episode ordering 99% of the time and the agent isn’t the issue at play since with either database the episode ordering is the same. I have never actually found a difference between the two. I have personally used TVDB as the ordering list for mine with the new agent and haven’t ran into an issue with the hundreds of shows on my server. The fact still remains that the episodes are incorrectly ordered within the show folder on their system which will prevent the agent from being able to properly order them. What cannot be used for episode ordering as far as I know is IMDB.

Never argued against that, in this case

Just wanted to make sure, that people didn’t saw your response as the whole truth

This is not going to fix anything as the file ordering is incorrect. You will need to go to either The Movie Database (TMDB) (themoviedb.org) or Welcome - TheTVDB.com and match the episode ordering to one of those databases otherwise the scanning agent will continue to make a mess of your show. I personally have American Dad! on my server and use the aired order found on Welcome - TheTVDB.com for mine with no issues.

Thanks for replying.

I sorted the file ordering as “aired” on TVBD and now S16 hast two episodes from S18 and S18 doesn’t show at all.

As already said, the default for your library is NOT tmdb but tmdb

So why on earth did you not follow that?

But when said, did you make an exception then on your American Dad show, to let Plex know you changed the ordering?

tvdb-aired

If you matched it to the TVDB that’s fine as the ordering is the same on both platforms. You will likely need to do another Plex Dance for the whole series to make sure that everything is scanned and matched correctly.

Before berating him for the ordering used I would make sure there is a difference. The two platforms as I have said I don’t know how many times now use the same ordering. Seems a bit out of place for a moderator…

With changing the file ordering to TVBD I also changed the Agent to “TheTVBD”. Made sense to do that for me.

You maybe realize that NOT ‘tmdb’ and ‘tmdb’ are the same?

I did that in order to avoid exceptions, since if later moved, problem will arise

And sorry if it came out brute, no prune was intended!

I realized there was a numbering mistake in S16 and S18 which caused the problem I got after moving to TVDB order/seasons.

So everything looks correct now?

Sadly, they are not

TMDB

TVDB

Two completely different sites, and yes, tvdb was preferred with the old agent, but with the new agent you are using, Plex changed focus to tmdb

You should read your original reply one more time… slooowly

American Dad is a pain because well it just is. I think it’s a scene issue. Once you accept the episodes you get need to be correctly numbered your life will improve.

Yes it does! Thanks!

American Dad! isn’t any more of a pain then any other show. If your ordering isn’t correct they will always be screwed up unless you manually set everything up which can be hugely time consuming with shows.

I use ‘Bulk Rename Utility’ for that. Saves me ALOT of time

I’ll have to check that out. My problem with those utilities has always been that they don’t offer me the granularity that I want when renaming everything. So I typically just do it by hand, as tedious as it is… Lol
