I get a playback error on 4K DV files - it tries to transcode it slightly below the original quality & fails. with DirectPlay set to auto.
When I set DirectPlay to “Force” it plays the file, but with a green tint. Is there anything I can do with this in settings or do I simply avoid Dolby Vision altogether?
On what app/platform do you experience this?
It’s on a TCL 8K ROKU TV
It’s the latest Plex version, only happens on DV files
First, are you trying to use subtitles? That can introduce complications.
Many DV files on the Internet are Frankenstein’s monster, parts-bin files, absolute chimera, hobgoblins created by extracting the video from one source, extracting the DV metadata from another, and gently schmogrifying it into another container.
Color Space not supported implies the file is probably DV Profile 5, because Plex can’t transcode/color-map those files.
A well-formed DV P5 file should be able to Direct Play on that TV, assuming there aren’t any other issues.
And greenpurple implies that either the file isn’t well-formatted, or something is going wrong in how the Plex app is detecting DV P5 and activating the right decoding modes - possibly because of problems with the file itself.
Share the media xml info about the file, or a sample of the file.
Or DM me a link to the file.
I’m getting the same error “color space not supported” on my Vizio TV. Same movie works fine on the FireStick
