DV Files with type MKV not recognised as DV on LG - WebOS

Server Version#: Latest
Player Version#: Latest
App Name: Plex for LG
Client Version: 65.64.1
Platform Version: 6.3.2

Tv Details: LG G1 (OLED65G1PTA)
TV Software: 3.34.95 (latest)
Platform: webOS6.0

Issue:
All DV files in MKV version not detecting as DV on the TV and playing with that purple colour. However the same content on .mp4 is working as expected and TV identifying a DV and logo is displaying on the top.

I have tested the file is ok as when play the .MKV file on shield it’s working flawlessly so it’s not the file or the Plex Media server.

For all users, I like to get this and fixed and please let me know what info you need to troubleshoot and fix this issue.

This is a known limitation of LG’s webOS TVs. They just won’t recognise Dolby Vision files in the .mkv container. Plex for webOS passes the file to the native webOS player, so it shares the same limitation. The good news, as you’ve discovered, is that they generally will play in Dolby Vision if you re-mux the files to .mp4. It’s an extra step, but unfortunately it’s the only solution if you’re not using an external player like the Shield or the Apple TV (running Infuse).

Thanks.

Apologies for hijacking this thread. Would it be possible to create a custom profile for Plex that does the remuxing from mkv to mp4 on the fly?

I think LG fixed this BUG. Now MKV with DV files playing on my LG OLED TV via PLEX.
