I tried naming my files for Almost Human according to DVD order listed on TheTVDB, and set to TheTVDB DVD Order in Plex’s advanced settings. It still wanted to name the episodes according to air date and pull the metadata in that order as well. So I renamed the files to reflect their original air date while still keeping DVD Order selected, and all it did was correctly match the names and metadata without doing anything to the order. I’m at a loss as to how to get this working since the first method did not work, and of course the second method didn’t either.
If you want Plex to organize your files as per TheTVDb DVD order:
Name the files so the season/episode order matches that of TheTVDb
Scan the library
Configure the show in Plex to use TheTVDb DVD order (as you pointed out → Advanced tab of the show’s config)
Refresh the show’s metadata
I’m not sure I understand the step you took at the end (re-ordering / renaming the files) – that seems not to do you any good or will make things worse with regards to how they’re being displayed.
I suspect you simply forgot to refresh the show’s metadata when you adjusted the show config?!
I didn’t refresh the show’s metadata, because I’d only uploaded the pilot episode prior to changing it to DVD order. I’ll try again and see what happens.
No, I got it sorted out. Just moved the files, renamed them back to an episode format consistent with the DVD order, deleted the show, moved the files back, ran the scanner, made sure DVD order was still selected, refreshed the metadata and it works.
