DVR BUG: follow team

I am in the Kansas City metro area and was trying to follow the Chiefs earlier this year when this started. I have not added any extra guide data. Right now since we are between sports I haven’t had anything else to try.

St. Louis Cardinals games on Bally Sports Midwest (824) with Charter Spectrum guide

Burlington, Ontario, Canada (over the air). I tried various sports with various teams and it never worked. The red icon would appear but nothing would ever appear in the DVR schedule, not even the game that I scheduled the team event on. Windows PMS.

I just joined this thread because I was tracking the progress (or actually lack thereof) on this problem in a thread I started back in January. That thread was closed–appropriately so based on the many who are on this thread. I’m chiming in now to say, “Yep, I have the same problem.”

I’m in California Central Valley using Charter Spectrum trying to follow the Golden State Warriors basketball.

Adding details of what I’m seeing related to this bug…
Here’s the scenario: I see a Philadelphia Union game is on the schedule, so I go to set up the recording.

  1. I want to record ALL Union games. I find this weekend’s upcoming broadcast in the guide
  2. I have the options to Record This Event/All MLS Soccer Events/All Philadelphia Union Events/All (whatever the opponent team is) Events
  3. If I choose “All MLS Soccer Events” a repeating schedule of recordings is created
  4. If I choose “All Philadelphia Union Events” then Plex says “No upcoming airings” even though are multiple Union games in the future guide.

This is happening on a “default” DVR install with an HDHomeRun OTA as the source of tuners.

At this point, given that that all of us are unable to get team events to work in any situation, I guess I would ask you if you’ve been able to get it to work successfully even once. After this many months, more progress should have been made on this – at least, on acknowledging that the problem even exists.

@anon18523487 Did you look at the other thread at all before you closed it? What are your thoughts on this comment? “All team events” scheduled recordings not recording - #32 by bpfaust4

I’ll PM you my team & guide info.

The teams seem to populate fine in the guide yet this is still an issue. The guide shows what teams are playing. It lets me record “All (Team A) Events” or “All (Team B) Events”. It just doesn’t schedule anything to record.

My workaround is recording All MLB events which has me running into tuner count issues and is less than ideal. I can’t cancel some events either which makes it more difficult.

Yes I did.

I have been using the “record all NHL events” as a workaround for the past several months. As noted above, I too run into tuner count issues occasionally. I don’t know if this wrinkle has been reported yet: a couple of days ago, two (different) NHL games started at the same time. It seems that Plex assumed these were the same and chose one (the wrong one).

Adding the same experience in the following locations and broadcast types (not sure if it works anywhere for that matter)

<Lineup id="lineup://tv.plex.providers.epg.cloud/5fc771debdb26c002ee25093#Bell%20Fibe%20TV%20%281088%20channels%29" title="Bell Fibe TV (1088 channels)" />

and in another market:

2 weeks later. Any ideas as to what’s going on? Have you confirmed that it is/isn’t related to guide data?

After all this time, we don’t even have a sense that Plex even knows that there’s a problem. Plex, don’t you get that this complete lack of engagement on issues is why we get upset. I’m not saying that the issue should have been fixed by now. But we should have at least gotten some sort of confirmation of the bug/problem. This recurring pattern of non-engagement is why Plex’s reputation is so bad.

Plex, still wondering whether this problem has been confirmed and put on a buglist. Is it Plex’s intention that this customer engagement system (the forum) continue to be as useless for customers as it appears to be?

@anon18523487 It’s been 3 weeks now since you responded at all on this thread. Do you have any information. Can you acknowledge the bug? Can you confirm whether it’s related to guide data?

I don’t know exactly what the issue is, but it has been filed with the team. Just waiting for them to identify and fix.

This is still an issue going on six months now

There’s not enough functionality with the scheduler to effectively work around this issue either:

  • I can’t just record all MLB events because I run into tuner count issues at times.
  • Limiting to a specific channel would cover most games, but during the NHL playoffs, MLB games get bounced to a secondary channel when teams play at the same time. I can’t limit the recording to two channels, only one.
  • If I could effectively limit to channels where 90% of my team’s games are I would hope that I could then individually schedule games where my team is on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball or elsewhere, except to the guide that’s still just “MLB Baseball” and any attempt to record opens the dialog to modify the original recording item.

Maybe some suggestions for feature improvements, but hopefully we can at least get the thing back that worked fine last year.

The third bullet above is so infuriating as that is exactly how I’ve tried to get around this problem.

Also, in reading through todays release notes, it doesn’t look like it’s addressed at all in this version.

@anon18523487 can you confirm it’s not part of this release?

I just updated and tried everything again and I’m seeing the same behavior. No fix yet.
