DVR for recurring shows are broken

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: N/A

My Plex Server running on Linux Mint 19.3 has been working fine the past few months. This morning, when I was trying to trying to record a recurring show, it didn’t seem to work. In the Guide, there is the recurring red/white dot. However, on the right column where you see the Recording Priority, it shows there is “No upcoming airings”.

I have already tried the following:

Removing the current version of Plex Server, and re-installing the previously working version (1.18.3.2156)
Deleted the DVR, and setting it up all over again
Refreshed the Guide multiple times
Deleted the DVR where I used my postal code, but set it up again using an XML file (as in using different guide data - obtained by using zap2xml)

The only thing I can do now is to record the individual episodes, and then it will show up in the DVR Schedule grid. Any shows that I want to record All Episodes with either New Airings Only or New and Repeat Airings do not work.

Is anyone experiencing the same problems?

Having the same issue here on Version 1.18.5.2309 with an HDHomeRun EXTEND and trying to record ‘The Young and the Restless’. I have changed my guide data source to an .xmltv file pulled from Zap2it instead of the default Plex EGD source, and changing the setting to record ‘New an Repeat Airings’ has helped to gain a few more days of recordings scheduled, however I cannot get Plex to schedule any recordings for this show after 1/30/2020 no matter how hard I try, even setting recordings manually for each episode.

I am also thinking this may have something to do with episode numbering being incorrect in the guide data. The default Plex EGD data has the dates about three days in the future, and sometimes there is no episode number which I think causes this issue. The date and episode numbering is more accurate in the .xmltv file pulled from Zap2it, however still missing the episode numbers after 1/30/2020.

I am having the exact same problem. And only with random shows. But it doesn’t seem to matter weather the are in HD or how many times I refresh my guide. They show up on my guide like they are going to record, but don’t show up in my DVR schedule no matter what I try.

I’m glad that I am not the only one having the problem. However, this issue I am having has made my Plex Server as a DVR basically unusable.

I went so far that I have completely wiped my SSD and reinstalled Linux Mint 19.3 (the OS I have been using) from scratch, leaving nothing behind, reinstalled 1.18.3.2156, as well as 1.18.4.2171, but the problem persists. I just noticed there is a new version numbered 1.18.5.2309 that is now available. Maybe I will update and see if the problem goes away.

In the mean time, I have paid Emby $5 to test out their server for a month. So far, despite some minor quirks, it’s working well… but I definitely prefer Plex as I have been a Plex user for over seven years since I first bought my Synology in 2013.

To update my on-going issues, version 1.18.5.2309 did not fix the issue I was having. However, I just downloaded version 1.18.6.2368 and it appears the scheduling of recurring shows is working again.

I am now able to schedule weekly recurring shows that I wasn’t able to do about two weeks ago. It wasn’t due to an update that I applied. I apply Plex server updates sparingly, and every time I do, I take a complete image of my Linux desktop before doing so. I am just not sure what to do now should this happen again. Should I abandon Plex and go with Emby? Emby has been working well after experiencing the issues with Plex earlier. The lack of acknowledgement from the Plex team about my issue doesn’t give me a lot of confidence even though I have already paid for my lifetime membership.

There are parts of Plex Server that I like (as in the DVR Schedule grid). However, I do like the Emby’s Guide better, as I can easily horizontally scroll through an entire day of the grid, rather than keep pressing “>” to go to the next half hour.

I have this issue. On version Version 1.18.8.2527 and I’m seeing the exact described behavior. Recording individual shows works fine, but can’t record a series.
