DVR not working as intended

I have plex live tv/dvr setup and it’s working great. I am using epg.best to filter out any channels I don’t need, then xteve for the proxy. I am able to watch live tv just fine, but the DVR function seems to be far from ideal. I mostly use the DVR to record sporting events, and it seems to be hit or miss, with it being mostly “miss” lately. I want to record the St. Louis Blues versus Colorado Avalanche tonight on Bally sports Midwest, so I go to the guide and find the game at 6:30, select it to record and it seems to show up as recording all instances of the game which is at 6:30pm, 12am, and then again at 6am. I cancel the recording and then go to advanced options and set it to only record a specific airing time (6:30) and a specific channel and it will do the same thing.

On top of that, the recording doesn’t show up in the “DVR Schedule” at all and probably will end up not recording at all. I have no idea what causes this behavior. Could it be the EPG somehow? I point that to xteve, but I am not sure why that would matter. Do I just have something setup incorrectly for the DVR? It seemed very simple to setup and there wasn’t really many options to change.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I can’t seem to find any posts of others having this same issue so I feel like I must be doing something wrong. Recording tv shows works fine, it’s just sporting events. The TV guide doesn’t show the correct information and for some reason the games won’t record if I make any changes in advanced settings.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to use plex’s EPG but when I went to map the channels everything was fine and then for some reason I couldn’t do anymore channels, I believe around 70 channels. I would map the channel in plex and then it wouldn’t let me save it. I don’t know why. I don’t remember the exact number, but it just wouldn’t let me save the config after so many channels.
