Using the Plex DVR feature to watch shows that are currently still being recorded only works correctly when I am using the Plex Web based player on the same W10 Machine that my plex server is running on. That is, while a show is currently being recorded and I go into the TV Guide and select the show, it gives me the option to watch live or watch from start. I can select watch from start and the player goes to the start of the show and starts to play. I can then proceed to FF throughout playing the show up until I catch up to where the show is currently live. If I get out of the Plex Web player on my W10 PC and then go back and open it up Plex and try to start playing the same DVT show again, it will give me the same Watch from Start or Watch Live option and work just like it did. Again, this is how I would expect this feature to work.
However, when playing on an iOS device (iPhone/iPad) or when playing on a FireTV Cube, this is where nothing works as expected. When I select the currently recording show from the TV guide, it gives me the Watch from Start option and when selected, it does that part correctly and will start to play from the beginning. However, if I ever get out of the Plex App, and then go back and try to repeat the same show to watch, it does either one of two things, it does not give me the Watch from Start option, and goes directly in playing the show live, or it gives me the Watch from Start option, but when selected it again goes directly to playing the show live.
When it is the first time of selecting Watch from Start and it does go to the Start, the fast forward feature typically works only a handful of times before it also behaves incorrectly. On the iOS devices, after a few FF advances, it will stop working where the play status bar at the bottom that normally is dark yellow for current play location and the greyed out yellow bar of current recording location is gone. Just a single grey bar is shown, and the FF or REV icons are greyed out and one can no longer FF or Reverse the show and it will only only continue to play with out can options to FF or REV. If I go out of the Plex app on the iPhone and try to go back into the App to restart, this is where the Watch from Start does not actually start at the beginning but just starts where the current show is recording at, or Live.
For the FireTV, the FF or REV also does not function. It will work for a few times at the beginning and then it will not FF or REV but just get stuck in a buffering mode…
I am connected with Ethernet to the FireTV and WIFI with iOS. FireTV used to work correctly a few server updates ago (not sure of what version make it stop working).
Anyone experience similar issues or options to review to resolve. I am not running the latest server update as I had to roll back to Version 1.24.4.5081 since the new version prevented the DVR from finding re-occurring sport team shows to record correctly.
