I had a recording schedule for a show to record new and repeat airings and automatically delete episodes after one day when marked as played.
a marathon of that show was playing this weekend and plex successfully recorded every episode and i can see the current episode that is recording in the .grab directory, but it disappears (deleted) as soon as it finishes recording.
Best I can tell, it is because i recorded and watched the episode over a year ago and deleted and the new recording is seeing the new recording as watched more than a day ago and deleting. modifying the recording to never delete is now keeping the recordings.
wish: auto deletion of recordings should be relative the recording itself, not if a user may have watched and deleted something with the same title at some point in the past. if it is not in the library at the time of recording, it should not be flagged as played.
Hi, I have the same problem and it has just started happening in the last week.
Rest assured that the problem is not you or your set-up (my own set-up is simple and all wired.)
The problem is that Plex has never been, and will never be what it promises to be. It will never be what Windows Media Center was. I have been trying to use Plex for years on various Windows servers and clients and now on a Shield TV. Same recurring problems. Sometimes updates will completely break everything and sometimes it will just start working again (without consistency.)
I have wiped my Shield at least 4 times since it’s purchase in late 2016 because of Plex.
Updates will break everything sometimes and the Plex will issue a new update sometimes within a day or less to fix it (never acknowledging the issue of course.) Then within a few weeks it will happen again.
Since I have a lifetime subscription I tolerate it-they got my money, but they don’t deliver, ever. I have grown accustomed to the disappointment of looking forward to watching a new episode of my favorite show only to find it either never recorded or was deleted before I could watch it.
I have a technical background in digital imaging and love to teh concept of what Plex claims to do but this is the most rIdiculous platform ever. They shouldn’t even pretend this is ready for primetime-pathetic.
So, I hope you haven’t committed one dime to them because you will never get your money’s worth.
Sorry for your problems. I completely understand your frustration. Sadly I have no hope it will ever get better.
