DVR recording playback of SD in 4:3 aspect ratio

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#: 8.11.0.22186

Hello,
I’m new to Plex. I bought an NVIDIA Shield Pro recently and try to use it to stream the videos on my Synology NAS to my Samsung TV.
Everything is working fine so far except that SD videos in 16:9 are played in 4:3 only.
I’m using TVMosaic (formerly known as DVBLink) on my NAS as a DVR and record many videos in SD and 16:9. Videos are saved as MPEG stream (.ts) and I’m using Avidemux to cut the videos, remove ads etc. and save the video in MKV format.

I use the PMS on the Shield and Plex client on a Samsung tablet (Android 10). Typically I select the video I would like to watch on my TV on the tablet, select the Shield as streaming device and start streaming. HD videos play fine in 16:9, but SD videos are reduced to 4:3 with black frames on the left and right. Watching the same video on the tablet works fine.

When using the Synology VideoStation app on the tablet everything works fine: I select the Shield as streaming device and all videos are played in 16:9.

No ideas? Only solution for me currently is to drop Plex and continue to use the Synology VideoStation.
