DVR recordings are cut off a few seconds or a few minutes after starting

Need some help:
I’m unable to successfully create scheduled recordings shows with my PLEX/HDHomeRun system.

I set the system up yesterday and every scheduled recording ended a few seconds or a few minutes after starting.

I see this error in the media info pop-up for the recording: “Media Grab Error Recording failed. Please check your tuner or antenna.”

I can watch live TV on all my PLEX clients with no problems.

Just a guess having experienced similar, check wherever you have allocated as your live recordings storage area that you have enough space to create new files..

It’s a 4TB M.2 SSD with 2.45 TB available. That oughta do the trick.

Not that then, over to the experts

Your on Windows 10 and have video drivers that aren’t working with Plex so any options that use Hardware Transcoding should be disabled and especially the DVR tuner ones.

DVR Tuner Settings
Convert video while recording: OFF
Use hardware-accelerated video encoding: Unchecked (There is a reason this is [Experimental] it has issues going through HW)

Transcoder settings
Enable HDR tone mapping: Unchecked (GPU doesn’t even support this)
Use hardware acceleration when available: Unchecked
Use hardware-accelerated video encoding: Unchecked

No, the server is running on Windows 11 Pro. But I’ll turn off the hardware transcoding and HDR tone mapping in any case.

Lesson learned:
I’m not sure which hardware transcoding option was the problem, but I turned them all (2?) off and recordings are working now. I was able to record all 15.5 hours of my scheduled recordings since yesterday, even using all four encoders simultaneously at times. :+1::tada::man_cartwheeling::woman_dancing::man_dancing:
