I just got an HD HomeRun Connect yesterday, and I tried out the DVR for the first time last night. However, this morning I discovered the DVR only recorded the first 6 minutes of a 30 minute show. Does anyone know what might have gone wrong?
Do you have plenty of free space where Plex transcoder directory is located?
Yes, 168 GB.
Correction: the drive with my library has 168 GB; my main drive (where I assume the transcoder directory is) has 28 GB.
Ok I had similar problem - drive where I was storing recordings had plenty of space but default transcoder directory was on my install drive which had much less free space and caused the same problem you are seeing. Sounds like your issue is something else.
I tried recording a couple more shows last night. One only recorded 18 minutes, the other only 51 seconds. I really hope I didn’t waste my money on this tuner.
The culprit seemed to have been the Convert Video While Recording setting. After I switched it off, the problem resolved itself, and all my recordings worked for the past couple weeks.
That was until last night when I discovered a recording was stalled at 100% an hour after the recording should have finished. The tuner light on my HD HomeRun Connect was also still on as if it was still recording.
I dug into Plex cache folder on my computer, hoping to find the recording file that I could manually pull out. Instead, I found the recording was split into 1-second-long files (I guess that’s part of Plex’s recording process), but they stopped around 20 minutes into the 1-hour show I recorded. I realized that again the DVR had only recorded part of the show, so I just put my computer to sleep. This morning when I woke up the computer, Plex finished processing the recording and added it to the library, but, as expected, it’s only the first 20 minutes of the show.
I have the same issue with what seems to be specific shows. Oddly, Marvel’s Agents Of Shield usually records okay for me, but the same episode you show here did the exact same thing to me, recorded twenty minutes of the show and that’s all. It also typically does it for me on The Great British Bake Off and The Great British Baking Show and sometimes on Ancient Aliens.
One change I’ve noticed just in the last two PMS updates is that now it doesn’t mark them as failed in the DVR recordings like it used to. I’m not sure what changed there, it used to put the exclamation point on them to indicate failure, now it doesn’t.
I’m having similar problems. I got a HD Homerun Connect 2 weeks ago and immediately subscribed to Plex Pass. I’ve had nothing but problems recording shows consistently. I’ve browsed through the forums here, I’ve tried changing tuner and recording settings, I’ve change PMS to the Beta channel, even. Still having issues. Just as a test, I set it to record the Nightly News every day, and it hasn’t saved a single show since last week. If I can’t get this working soon, I’m going to ask for a refund. Seems that Plex’s DVR is too half-baked to be used (and pay $39.95/year for!)
For any of these issues the first step would be seeing logs that cover the time when the recording would have occurred. Go to Settings/Server the following settings are correctly set:
Enable Plex Media Server debug logging - Enabled
Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging - Disabled
Allow Plex Media Server tokens in logs - Disabled
The next time this occurs you would need to grab logs and post them here. To grab the logs go to Settings/Server/Help, click the Download Logs link and upload the zip file created.

Thanks for replying. After I posted previously, I just set a recording of “Rescue 911” as a test. It’s now 2 1/4 hours after that show ended, and it still has not shown up in New TV, and Recording Schedule still has that show with a red record dot with an orange circle around it.
What is your A drive?

My RAID5 array with my Movies and Videos.
Internal Storage or Network?
Internal storage.
Another question:
For your Connect do you have the Convert Video While Recording set to Transcode?
If so can your turn that off, also turn off the Commercial Skip and try to record another show.
I don’t have Convert Video While Recording enabled, but I do have Commercial Skip enabled. FYI, the Rescue 911 did eventually show up, it just took a really long time. I can try turning off Commercial Skip, but I have done that before too. I have 4 other recordings from yesterday that still haven’t shown up and are still “Red Dot” on the Recording Schedule.
I run Plex on a Sandy Bridge Core i5 with 8GB RAM, and it’s mostly idle. I have no idea why Plex isn’t displaying these shows in a timely manner.
EDIT: I checked and 2 of them has CS turned on, so I turned that off. Still nothing came up. I quit and then restarted the PMS and one of the recordings appeared. So there’s something about quiting and restarting that’ll make it work sort of. This is really frustrating.
EDIT 2: That show was only 8:48 out of 30:00!!! WTF. If this can’t be fixed and working 100%, I’m going to demand a refund.
Do you have the Hardware Transcoding enabled on the Settings/Server Transcode area? Logs seems to indicate that it might be but there is no support for hardware trancoding present.
Would also like to see if a recording setup to record to your C drive would work. If you could try adding a folder to your TV Shows library and create a new recording directing it to use the folder on the C drive instead of the A drive. Just looking to see if this same issue occurs on the system drive as well as the RAID array.
I’ve turned off Hardware Transcoding.
I created a new folder and library on the C: drive, and I started 2 recordings.
The first one (NBC Today Show) ended over 2 hours ago now, but still has not shown up.
The other one (college football) ended at 1:00 (1:15 now), not in the now showing yet either, but in Windows Explorer, the recording is in: C:\Users_My Name_\TV Shows TEST.grab\9a3d73654bdece85a5fd2e010e287095f701921d/College Football (1998) - 2017-12-24 00 00 00 - 2017 North Carolina State at Florida State.ts
The Today Show is nowhere.
Would need log files
