I’m using Linux Mint 20.4 with plex server. I have my tuner card working. What I’d like to know is where the dvr saves the recordings on plex. I can’t figure out how to specify a save location. I don’t want it on my main drive. Anyone have some insight on this?
You create a TV and a Movie library, preferably separate from your other TV shows.
I have both for my shows and movies. So what you’re eluding to is it’ll save to the drive my movies and shows are saving to or is it one or the other or something else?
You need two types of Libraries, one for Movies and one to store TV shows because there are different agents for gathering metadata. The Plex user needs read/write access to these locations which is why I recommend making new Libraries to protect existing files.

I have my permissions set on both my drives. 1 drive is for movies, the 2nd drive is for tv shows. I have 2 tv show libraries and 2 movie libraries. Whats confusing me is how do you set the dvr save location or does it automatically save those recordings in 1 of the movie / tv show libraries automatically?
