DVR Schedule says no upcoming local news and no longer records although Guide shows they are set

I have been using Plex for several years and have not had this problem before. I have a Hauppauge Quad Tuner Card and have a Plex server on a Win11 machine set to record a few dozen shows, including both the national and local nightly news on ABC, CBS, and NBC. For some reason Plex has stopped recording the local news after Thursday, April 6, 2023. Everything else is still recording as expected.

When I look at the Guide, it shows that the local news is set to record, but when I look at the DVR Schedule anything dealing with local news is mysteriously absent. I have used the Guide and clicked on and deleted each local news recording entry, did a Guide Refresh, then went back to the Guide and re-added all the local news recordings. The Guide lists shows the local news as set to record, even for future dates as desired, but the DVR Schedule still lists “No upcoming airings” by their enties in the “Recording Priority” column, even when I move them to the top of the list, and shows no entries for them in the DVR Schedule.

To test things out, I deleted the settings to record the national news for the same channels and re-added them, and there was no problem with those showing up properly in the DVR Schedule again.

I have triple-checked, and my recordings are set for:
Record: All Episodes
Airings: New and Repeat Airings
Allow Partial Airings: Checked
Limit To Channel: Any
Limit To Airing Time: Any

I do like to keep up with the local and national news (although I usually only watch one of each every night, not all three, but it is handy to have them all set to record for when sportsball pre-empts the news), so any help is appreciated.

I have played around some more, and have some more details to share:
Although the Guide indicates that the local news is set to record even though the DVR Schedule does not show them when using the web interface, when I use the app on my Android phone the Guide does NOT show an indication that the local news is set to record. I do not know why the web and android interfaces are displaying this differently.

I have tried adding the local news recordings using the Android app, but although it does not show an error it also does not show the indicator that they are set to record, and I have the same result where the DVR Schedule does not show them, and the Recording Priority entry says “No upcoming airings.”

I have used the web interface to use the Settings/Troubleshooting/Optimize Database as well as Clean Bundles and retried deleting/adding the local news recordings through both the web and Android and still have the same issues. I deleted the 6:30pm national news entries and tried to add just the 6pm Local entries just in case my 1 minute before and 1 minute after settings for all my recordings were somehow now creating conflicts, but still the same issue as before. I re-added the 6:30pm National News with no issues, then used the 5PM CBS local news and 7PM NBC local news (which still abuts the 6:30pm National news with the same potential 1 min before/after issue) and those work perfectly fine.

It seems like there is likely some sort of curruption in my recording database, but seems odd that it is only affecting these three entries, that they all happen to be for the 6pm local news on three different stations, and that deleting and re-adding them does not resolve anything.

Whelp, at this point I’m at a complete loss. I deleted the Plex Media Server from my Windows 11 machine, deleted the Plex Media Server directory from my User/Appdata/Local area, checked for Windows updates, rebooted, installed the latest Plex Media Server from scratch, set up my Hauppauge quad tuner card and my media libraries, and worked on setting up my three dozen recordings.

Some of the recordings that during my previous install showed up as being set in the Guide but had stopped recording anymore with the DVR Schedule reporting no upcoming airings now seem to set up properly, but one (10tv News at 6pm) was having the same issue as before, even though it was the first one I tried to add. I tried to tweak it multiple times, remove and re-add it, add it is a single episode to record vs a series, but everything I tried had the same issue.

I went ahead and added all my other recordings, and 7 out of 36 have the same issue. I am more than happy to set/pull any logs, fiddle with settings, etc if it can help anyone figure out what is going on so I can get everything to record again, but at the moment I have no else what else to try.

Thanks, yup, that thread appears to be dealing with the same thing and from the same timeframe, so looks like a decent group of us are in the same boat! I’m glad that I am not the one going crazy or that somehow messed up my system. Hopefully the Plex programmers will take note of the issue and fix it. In the meantime I guess I’ll try deleting the files each day per the workaround others have found.
