DVR setup and online plex server ?

Hi,

I would like to have some information before buying a DVR.

Is it usable with plex if I don’t have a local plex server ?
My plex is remote and hosted on a debian server, online.

How should I use a DVR in my case ? It’s not very clear.

Thanks !

Not really usable for a remote server unless you are going to setup VPN connections between your local network and wherever the server is located. HDHR device must be on the same network, if using a USB or PCI tuner card they must be installed in the server.

Maybe it exists remote DVR like TV services we could pay for and we could link remotely to our plex server ?
Do you know some plex compatible online TV services I could pay for ?

I am not sure if you are aware but Plex has a Plex Cloud service that you can setup with an online cloud storage account: Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive. You upload your content to your online storage and can access your Plex Cloud server from anywhere. You would have to setup a Plex Server at home where your tuner device that receives your OTA or Cable TV service is located that records the shows you want. Your Plex Server at home could store recorded content in your online storage provider that Plex Cloud can access.

I am not aware of DVR services you pay for that store the content in your Plex Server. The recordings are stored on their servers not your personal server.
