Hey Guys, I was wondering if I can get some guidance. I am expericiencing DVR recording failures (Transcoding error) on a few channels, but most notably NBC (4 NY). I am running the latest versions of plex server and player clients. I searched the forum and it appears this is a grander issue.
The server is running on media pc, I3 Processor, all storage drives internal, HD homerun network tuner.
I am not at my home computer at the moment so not using my normal log tools but I see nothing in your logs posted regarding a failed recording. The logs start at 9/20 at 09:53 am and go until 9/20 at 11:09 am. You will need to either capture the logs immediately after a failed recording or perhaps increase the number of logs maintained as outlined in the Advanced, Hidden Server Settings look for the LogNumFiles option and modify as outlined in the instructions for your Operating System. On a Windows computer this will require using RegEdit to add the key for LogNumFiles option.
Not sure this is relevant but I too am experiencing almost constant transcode errors. However, rather than being a Plex issue I am wondering if it is a HDHomerun issue.
My problems appear to have started around the time I upgraded the firmware for the HDHomerun.
If I view programs on my ipad through the HDHomerun app I now experience a lot of breaking up of the picture.
Looking at the HDHomerun forums there does seem to be chatter around lower signal strengths being reported following the recent firmware upgrade. Unfortunately, unlike Plex, it seems that it is not possible to rollback the firmware to test this theory.
22 second clip is concerning since the command should have created a 30 second clip. Can you upload the clip to a file sharing site such as Dropbox and send link to video. Eight seconds missing from the video is very odd. If Plex is seeing this same type behavior when it starts a recording that could explain why the recording is aborted if Plex does not see any Audio or Video.
I have sent a message to one of the Devs but as I understand they are all out of the office. Might be next week before I can hear anything back. One odd thing I see is the file when played in VLC shows it is 31 seconds long but MediaInfo says the video and audio tracks are 28 seconds plus some milliseconds. Wondering if this roughly 2+ to 3 second differences would be enough for Plex to give up trying to record thinking there was no audio or video.
The logs provided after capturing this video using curl really wouldn’t show anything as the curl was done outside of Plex.
