I’m working on the possibility of installing a Plex server in an hotel of 55 rooms, to distribute internal on demand contents, but also the live TV.
At the moment, the TV streams in this hotel come from satellite and are distributed as multicast IPTV feeds (this is done by a Flamingo server, made bu Anevia).
So my question is, among the DVR tuners supported by Plex, is there one capable of providing, potentially, 55 different TV feeds (in case were the 55 TVs are each one on a different channel), and above all, is Plex capable of that? I assume the server would be enough powerful.
In case 55 feeds would be to much, but the half or the quarter would work, we could have more than one Plex Server.
We plane to use a Synology NAS to run the Plex Server.
I’ve have tried Plex with internal content and it works well, but I don’t already have any DVR tuner, as I don’t know which one could be used in that case.
In France.
I understand, however, the content is free for the clients of the hotel. There’s no paywall. Is there a limitation of the number of users who can watch the same video at the same time?
Because you are using it as a feature of renting a room, this use is still considered commercial use. Not saying Plex will go after you for this, but it is technically a violation.
Plex has no limits on the number of simultaneous streams. It all depends on your hardware.
