I have a new AntennasDirect Clearstream tv tuner. Tuner installs OK on my netywork, but not in Plex. I can see it OK from my Roku players and stream channels OK using the Roku App, not Plex. I have the correct Lifetime Plex Pass etc. Running server on a well specified Win10, 64bit workstation with an otherwise correctly functioning network and long-standing satisfactory PLEX installation.
When I go through the published install process in Plex no tuner is found - after hours. I can see the tuner on the network router OK - reports on the netwrok as ‘Generic Brand Vendor:Shenzhen’ with an IP of 10.0.0.184. Entering this into the manual entry box as the correct IP has no effect - Plex just searches indefinitely. Again, the tuner streams just fine outside of Plex, but Plex cannot find it.
Could it be:
Do I need to do anything to somehow ‘activate’ my Plex pass? My online account says it is purchased and present OK.
I have secure connections only selected in server.
I have blocked remote access to the server - note that the tuner is on the same net as server etc.
Nothing strange in my config, except perhaps my choice of home IP range… but not very strange most would say.
Perhaps the name ‘Generic Brand Vendor:Shenzhen’ is not what Plex expects? My feeling is that this is the problem. (If the plex tuner setup code was seeking a specific a vendor description that is)
I spoke with Clearstream, they are throwing it back to Plex. I do have the latest driver. (AS suggested in similar threads). The tuner updated istelf on install last week. Latest, greatest software in place - so Clearstream say.
“Incidentally - they wrote: Functioning on all streaming devices would indicate this is a PLEX related issue. Probably setup”.
The tuner is listed on the Plex site btw.
Any ideas anyone?
Plex version 4.18.1
That is the Plex Web version, not PMS.
