DVR Wildcard Record Advanced Option

First off, I’m a longtime SageTV user and have just switched over to Plex DVR. It is really nice and I’ll probably be getting the lifetime Plex Pass as soon as my free trial expires.

I’ve found that I can set recordings and priorities up nicely with Plex. One thing that appears to be missing is the ability to allow for a wildcard. The best example of this is for NFL football games. As best I can understand, if I wanted to record the teams I watch (New Orleans Saints for example), my only choice is to record all NFL games to ensure that I got the teams I wanted. With SageTV, I was able to say record all NFL games IF ‘New Orleans Saints’ is in description.

Is this functionality available and I’m just missing it? Is this something that will be added or is available in beta? I know that this should be very possible to accomplish and would add a lot to the flexibility of the recorder scheduler.

Such a way to schedule recordings is unfortunately not available in Plex.

Thanks for the confirmation. Is there a mechanism to request the functionality be added?

Voted for it! I use this functionality all the time in Tvheaded, which I am hoping Plex will be able to replace at some point.
