Plex will no longer record two shows at once. Anytime the second tuner tries to record it says transcoder error with an explanation point symbol. It used to work and seems to have stopped after the update.
Have you looked at the Plex Media Server log to see if there are any other messages?
i have no idea how to find the current log relating to this issue. i looked with no luck

Go to Settings/Server/Help, click the download logs link. Upload zip file to this thread. Will probably be tomorrow before I can even look at it. When posting please include the shows that were supposed to record, what time they started/ended, and any messages you recall seeing.
Last Man Standing, The Gifted, Dancing With the Stars, i was starting and stopping and stopping so many just experimenting its hard to recall. All of this was between 7-9 pm.
Specifically i tried to record KELO news at 5 (channel 11.1), and KSFY (channel 13.1) news at 5 concurrently as an experiment, at 5pm. KELO news at 5 recorded and KSFY news at 5 did not (transcoding error) (recording stopped).
Also the full story is I started out with the avermedia tuner and both tuners worked sometime at the end of August and beginning of September. All of a sudden Plex only registered one of its tuners… It wouldn’t even see the secondary tuner. So I returned that USB tuner and bought a Hauppauge dual tuner. With this new tuner it shows that it has two tuners under the settings menu, however it only recorded one show and the second show recording at the same time always says transcoding error. However if I’m recording one show, and go to live TV, it’ll let me record one show and watch one show live
Turns out if something is recording it will not play live TV either. It’s like the second tuner isn’t working at all.
Any word on this?
Well appears you have now replaced the tuner since the last set of logs. I do see the following error for the KSFY (channel 13.1) news:

Does this channel work? Can you get the signal strength, and signal quality for the tuner when viewing channel 13.1? Might also need another set of logs dealing with new tuner device.
OK I’ll post new logs after a couple of failures. I 13.1 comes in great. I have no reception issues with any of those channels. The “transcoding error” recording failure only occurs when recording two shows at once. I did a computer reinstall and deleted the old logs even, deleted everything. The Avermedia dual tuner I had recorded two shows at time at first, then stopped. So I bought a different dual tuner (Hauppauge dual) to see if that was the issue.
I have been having similar issues off and on for a while. Some days it is great all day long many shows recorded back to back to back (kid shows for my son). Then as soon as evening comes around and my wifes shows start recording, I get all sorts of errors. Unknown, transcoding, tuner…whatever. I am also using WMC and on occasion the Homerun View app in windows or android. I don’t seem to have any issues with any of those working. Basically confirming it isn’t a tuner issue. I have 3 Homerun Primes. Rarely can I tune to live tv in plex. At the moment, I am not really dependent on Plex since I am still using WMC as the main thing. Just waiting for Plex to be completely stable before we “turn off” WMC. I will provide whatever is needed wherever.
I should mention, at this moment, I have 2 shows schedule, 1 is recording just fine. The other I am getting the error. They are going to different libraries though. I have checked all my permissions and am on Freenas 11 with up to date plex
What version is the up-to-date version?
Do you have both devices installed or just the recently purchased replacement?
I uninstalled everything to do with the original tuner. However I know that’s not the issue as I have received the same transcoding error with both devices… EVERYTIME simultaneous recordings are attempted. Single recordings work EVERY time.
I’m getting really frustrated because there are numerous people on these forums with the same problem and no one has come up with a fix for a fairly major issue considering I’m paying for this service.

I had 2 recordings successful tonight. I don’t know for certain, but there seemed to be one of my 3 homerun primes that is defaulted to in any application I watch tv in. I removed that one from PLEX leaving me with 2 devices/6 tuners and things recorded just fine tonight. After an entire day of recording like days past as well.
@1040Sherwood Plex assumes that any tuners configured in Plex are available solely to Plex. So if the tuners are being utilized by other applications outside of Plex when a recording is requested using that tuner the tuner will reject the request to use the tuner and the recording will fail. Removing the tuner that your Live TV application was using from Plex has allowed Plex to choose one of the other two tuner devices to use instead.
Still having the same issue I just scheduled two concurrent recordings. I’ll post log tonight.
