EAC3 Won't playback at all on remote connections. Devices support codec

Player Version#: 9.28.0.3162 (Android) and also Latest Plex for LG

Hello,

For some reason Plex will neither direct play nor transcode any files with the EAC3 codec on remote connections. On the same device when on a local connection the file will play.

While this issue does appear elsewhere online, there are two major solutions which don’t work for me:

  • Deleting the codecs folder
  • Turning off scan libraries automatically

I have ensured remote quality is set to original/maximum on each of the players tested. I checked the manuals for each device, including the TV’s soundbar and they all support EAC3.
