Echo device not recognizing Plex Web App

Hey guys,

I’m running the latest available PMS beta version and just added my Echo Plus to the server. It’s working fine and it plays what I ask her to, however, it’s not recognizing my computer’s Plex Web App, which is, of course, in the same network. Neither our TV, which is in the same network as well and is also listed in my Amazon App as a device.

After trying to relink the Alexa skill several times it keeps on saying, that Alexa cannot find any players in my network.

As a former Plex junkie I remember that this was possible and the support article says this would work, too. But not for me, at least.

Any help would be highly appreciated :smile_cat:

Are you positive everything is on the same network? Do you have any other network devices such as repeaters installed that would duplicate your network?

Hey there Movie fan!

That’s actually a good point, we do have several repeaters, but they’re for the floors downstairs  Maybe the Echo is not on the same network? I’ll go ahead and double check, thanks already for the input!

So I readded the Echo to the proper network and it now recognizes the TV (Edit: And my OnePlus device), but still not my Plex Web app (which I use on a wired connection directly to the same router). Anything I’m not seeing or knowing?

Are you running the local Plex Web or the hosted one? I’m not sure but I think it has to be the local one to work with Alexa.

Oh! That might be a good point, I’ll check right away, as I’m indeed using the hosted one

EDIT: Nope, no difference

I feel ashamed to ask another time and ask so frequently, but maybe you don’t mind giving your brainsauce too @OttoKerner :see_no_evil: :slightly_frowning_face:

Got it!

I must have missed to switch on the “treat as a player” setting from the Plex web app settings hehe :man_facepalming:
