I decided I wanted to change the email associated with my account. The email that is there now gets way too many emails, and I don’t see the Plex emails. However, when I try to switch to my other email, I get “Email has already been taken”. I don’t remember ever using this new email to set something up. How can I ensure that email account is fully deleted? I’ve been using this old email for many months now.
You should be able to use a filter for the sender domain plex.tv or plexapp.com to quickly select all mails from Plex. Or place them automatically into a subfolder of your inbox.
If you ever have logged into plex.tv using that email address, a user account has been created automatically. (probably while using the Google, Facebook or Apple login methods)
You will have to log into that account (hopefully you still know the password!) and delete it.
After one month, the email address of the deleted account will be available again.
Make sure to use your web browser’s “incognito”/“privacy” mode when logging into different plex accounts than your regular one!
Otherwise you may end up deleting the wrong account.
Thanks. I know I can setup folders and filters on the email. The thing is this email account (one of many I have) is basically a black hole. It receives thousands of emails a day. I basically use it whenever I interact with anything new. Over 10-15 years you end up on a lot of lists. I never go to it to actually read emails.
I think Facebook was it. I remember trying that long ago. I will have to figure out the password and try and delete it.
