Embedded metadata for movies/videos/tv shots works reliably enough, but music is mostly a miss.
I’ve selected to use embedded metadata in the library, and I’ve set the metadata via Mp3tag. Local Media Artists are set at the top of the list for the agent as well.
Still, however, different titles are generated for the albums that do not match the filesystem location {ARTIST}/{ALBUM}/{FILE}.ext, and do not match the metadata (Mp3tag album is “Chimaira (2006 Bonus)”, but Plex says “Chimaira [Bonus Disc]”).
I’m guessing Plex is either ignoring my configuration, or I have missed a setting, because this is clearly coming from some external source. Though I am only presenting one example of an album name problem, individual file name problems exist too, likely for the same reason.
I know this example is relatively trivial, but I’ve got a sizeable music collection that I’ve curated the metadata of and I want a way for Plex to respect my metadata before going externally (wherever it does to get these album names).
If anyone can tell me what I’m doing wrong, I’d be glad to hear it!

Wow, I didn’t think it would be so easy.
The checkbox/order change was done on the agents months ago, so I didn’t need to worry about the Plex Dance (though I was already familiar with it. I wonder if that name is trademark-able, btw).
It should be noted that I did have to remove the items from the folder they were in, scan, then re-add the folders back and re-scan. I didn’t have to do the entire Plex Dance for this operation. It may be needed for a larger library and I will keep that in mind.
I changed my settings for Mp3Tag to the following, did a save, and rescanned the items in. That did it, it was that easy.
I’m going to attempt this on the main library as well. Thanks for the input, I never would have thought of it.
I am having this exact same issue, however this solution is not working for me
In the ‘mpeg’ page of mp3 tag I have READ all ticked, WRITE all ticked, and REMOVE only APE ticked, is this correct?I have tried different combinations with no luck
