If you try to start playback of a recording while it is still recording but no longer in the guide (common with live sports when you set the recording to finish 60 mins after the scheduled time), it’s not possible to find and start the recording because it is no longer in the guide. As a workaround, please please please enable us to start the recording from the DVR schedule page.
Otherwise Plex is unusable for time shifting live sports.
Would be even better if Plex remembered where it was in playing back live recordings, so you don’t need to start from the beginning if you switch devices etc.
Another option would be to be able to back up the DVR listings to before the present time by one hour, or a present amount in order to see the listing of the the live recording.
On my synology server, I have a script which creates a symbolic link to the recording in the .grab folder and puts it in another folder (that the TV Shows library watches, but it not recording to). This creates an entry that you can play and it will remember where it is. The challenge is what happens at the end of the recording if you’re still watching the show via the symlink. Still working on that.
