Enabling external subtitle on LG WebOs Media player

I’ve got an issue regarding enabling external subtitle using plex server in windows and using media player app on lg webos tv which is lg c1. (embedded subtitles within the movie file works without any issues)

I tried to test the media player on lg tv which I connected a usb which contains a movie with external subtitle which format was srt and I can enable the subtitle with ease.
but when I try the same thing with plex, it wont recognize the subtitle.

first try - my movie library
the settings was in default config :
library type : movies
scanner : plex movie
agent : plex movie

second try - my movie library
the settings was in default config :
library type : movies
scanner : plex movie scanner
agent : plex legacy

also I tried adding both opensubtitles.org and sub-zero subtitles the plex movie legacy agent. also enabling local meda assets.

It seems to me the subtitle feature on plex server is being used for the plex app.

notes: I tried shortening the folder name and file names.
also srt file name is the same as the movie file name.

Have you checked with the plex web app that your external subtitle file is being recognized by Plex and is working in the web app?
(In some cases you may have to Refresh Metadata on the video for new external subtiles to get recognized.)

yeah,I checked it in the web app and it seems to be there, check the attachent files.

I forget to mention that I refresh metadata each time I changed the settings and after that I do scan library files.

So what happens if you select this subtitle?
Does the video play without subtitles?
Does it play at all?
Is your server crying for help?

video will be played with subtitle without any issue on plex web but the issue is that the media player on my tv wont recognize the external subtitle. the plex server is only providing the media file, not the external subtitle to the lg media player

it seems to me that the subtitle feature will only work on plex app, not the ones that only see the plex server as a media server to only grab the media files not extra files.

Ah, you mean you are using a DLNA client? Yes, all external files, metadata and other Plex features are not available in DLNA.

You will have to mux in your subtitles. (And while you’re at it, remove all those you don’t need)
