As most of our Roku users are already aware, we recently released a brand new interface for our apps, with Roku and Apple TV leading the way. The new UI was originally made available as a preview to users, starting back in February. We closely followed feedback from users of the preview and iterated on the design and features, releasing several updated versions as we progressed.
On April 3, the preview period ended and the new interface was released to users of our official Roku channel.
While we integrated feedback as we worked on our new UI, we had made a separate “PlexRetro” channel available for users, which was essentially our old style app. When we announced the availability of PlexRetro, we shared up front that it would only be available temporarily:
Plex Retro will not be a permanent channel and we plan on removing it once the official channel has been updated
That time has now come. Starting on June 3, 2019, access to the PlexRetro channel will be removed, as Roku devices perform their normal updates. Users who already have it installed will be redirected to the official Plex channel on their Roku. At that point, you’ll no longer be able to access the old app interface through PlexRetro and you’re welcome to uninstall the PlexRetro channel.
We thank everyone for all their past feedback that has helped us improve our Plex channel and we encourage you to continue to provide feedback so we can keep making Plex better for everyone!
