Hi All,
I am looking to replace the Plex EPG with xmltv because I have some source locations that Plex guides don’t support and you can’t mix guide sources. To do this, I want to replicate all of the functionality that the Plex EPG provides.
I’ve done some testing and set up EPG123 with Schedules Direct and have been able to get all of the guide data that I require. This uses the same provider (Gracenote) as Plex does for EPG, so this works well except for some missing images which is being worked on separately.
This all looks great except nothing appears in the categories in the Plex tv guide. When using Plex as the EPG provider, the the channels appear in the categories based on what program is on at the time.
EG. If there is a Movie playing on Channel 5, it will appear under movies in the guide.
I’ve checked the xmltv file and all shows are tagged with Categories. Also, the correct categories for programs are displayed when looking at the ‘whats on’ page.
Is there another tag that I need to use or a certain format for this to work? Or are the Plex guide categories only supported when using Plex as the EPG provider?
