Is it possible to show a list of channels shows in an EPG format similar to a typical DVR from a cable/satellite provider? After using Plex Live TV regularly for the last few months, I have grown fond of the Plex format for the EPG. But there are times that I would like to switch to the older/traditional format, so the option would be nice.
I ran into some issues while watching NFL games yesterday. I was unable to tune into the channel of the upcoming game to watch the ongoing pregame show and eventually the upcoming game. When searching through the Watch Now section as well as the Sports section, I was only able to see a listing for the upcoming game (which said was to start in 10 minutes). Having a traditional program guide in this case would have enabled me to find the channel and tune into it immediately.
I have seen the option to sort by channel, but this doesn’t exactly serve what I am looking for.
As robust as Plex is, it would be nice to see an option to view the EPG in a traditional format. I definitely don’t want to change the default format from the way it currently is, because I find it most useful this way.
I agree about the new EPG format vs old and I haven’t found a way to do that so I use http://tvlistings.zap2it.com/tvlistings/ or any other online EPG to see the old grid format on a phone. It would be a nice feature to be able to switch between grid and plex style EPG.
Since some of my clients don’t support LiveTV I mainly use the HDHR Plugin for LiveTV and that allows you to sort channels by number (and see the number) or how you enter them and create groupings of channels like sports, kids, favorites so I am hoping that eventually plex builds that type of functionality into their native LiveTV.
But yeah for now you would have to list all channels and sort it that way within the native LiveTV.
I have the HDHR Plugin as well and used that primarily for watching Live TV until Plex added it natively. My current workaround is to switch to HDHR in the situation where I need to quickly pull up a channel number. I definitely appreciate Plex’s method to break away from channel numbering, but I feel that option still needs to remain. At the very least, list out the channels by channel name and offer the option for a favorites list.
How can I put in a feature request for this? Sorry, I’m new to the forum!
But I would also check with the forum FAQ to see if they need any specific info on the initial request but yeah I can only assume this is being worked on but asking never hurts.
